Hi All
Please find an important message about recycling from Software Central
Below:

Dear UCLA Community,

Every year, millions of CD, CD-ROM and DVD disks are thrown in the trash.
These disks end up in landfills and incinerators causing unnecessary damage
to our environment. Software Central has recently discovered a service that
will recycle old CD, CD-ROM and DVD disks. We would like to help the UCLA
campus participate in this service by providing a drop off points for old
disks to be recycled. We have set up a box for this purpose in the Software
Central office, 4933 Math Science building. Drop off hours for disks at
this location only are 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Other drop off
locations include:

Center for Digital Humanities Lab, B01 LuValle Commons
Center for Digital Humanities Help Desk, 1020 Public Policy Bldg.
CLICC Drop-In Lab, 145 Powell
ETU Office, 3051 Moore Hall
Science Learning Center, 4351 Young Hall
SEAS Computer Lab, 2684 Boelter Hall
Social Sciences Computing Lab, 2035 Public Policy Bldg.
Student Technology Center, Bottom Floor Delta Terrace
Technology and Learning Center, 22-001CHS

We are only able to collect the disks themselves, not the boxes or sleeves
that they may come in. We encourage you to reuse the plastic ³jewelbox²
cases that the disks come in to the extent possible. Cardboard or paper disk
sleeves are generally recyclable as paper products.

Before bringing your disks to any collection box, please ensure that you
have erased any sensitive data that they may contain. You may also shred or
break your disks and bring them to us in their shredded or broken form to be
recycled.

Any type of digital disk can be recycled under this program, including those
containing computer programs, music, video, data, etc. We are able to
accept all disks of this type from all UCLA affiliates, including faculty,
staff and students.

Please help us spread the word and make this recycling program a success by
forwarding this email to anyone that you know on campus that may have disks
to recycle. If you would like a disk recycling collection box in your
department, contact us for details.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your
assistance with this effort!
