Club & International Folk Dance Club.



Invitation for UCLA Staff, family & friends to enjoy an evening of
Vintage Ballroom Dance Instruction Saturdays 8 p.m.-Midnight at the UCLA
Powell College Library 2nd Floor Rotunda. Costumes are Optional. High
heels are not permitted. Admission is Free. No Dance experience

by 5pm Friday before each Ball.

Saturday Feb. 10 Renaissance Ball (4th Annual)

Romeo & Juliet Italian theme ball will include Shakespeare readings
(poetry/sonnets) and rare opportunity to learn easy Renaissance dances
from the 15th & 16th Century 8:15pm-10:45pm.
Followed by modern social dancing (Swing-Salsa-Tango-Waltz-Cha
Cha-Foxtrot) until Midnight with members of the popular Ballroom Dance
Club at UCLA. Costumes optional. No partner required.

March 3 President's Ball (5th Annual)
Learn Vintage Ballroom Dances from the time of George Washington to 
Lincoln. (Waltz, Polka, Mazurka, Galop...Grand March, Virginia Reel)

Special Celebration of 30th Vintage Theme Dance at Powell.

May 5 Hollywood Movie Magic Ball (3rd Annual)
Learn fun dances from movies and see rare home movie of dancing in  
Broadway Shows 1930's-1960's with commentary by Miles Kreuger,  
historian of the American Musical. Dance music includes the Jitterbug  
from the Wizard of Oz, Singin in the Rain, The Hustle, songs sung by  
Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Judy Gardland...

June 2 Jane Austen Ball (10th Annual)
Learn fun dances circa 1790-1820 with Mr. John Hertz.
Including Waltzes/Set Dances to the beautiful music of Mozart, Hadyn,  

July 21 Revolutionary Ball (4th Annual)
Learn fun dances enjoyed during the time of the American & French  
Revolutions including the Minuet

Oct date tba (5th Annual) Valentino's Tango & Ragtime Ball Celebrating
social dancing during the life of Rudolf Valentino 1895-1926.

Nov. date tba (7th Annual) Waltz Through Time Celebrating 200 years of
Waltz around the world.
