STAFF ASSEMBLY
INVITES YOU TO
AN ANNUAL

“CONVERSATION WITH THE CHANCELLOR”

Please join us on January 30, 2002 from 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the James
West Center for a brown-bag Town Hall meeting with Chancellor Carnesale.
This event will provide a forum for the Chancellor to discuss such topics as
the impact of the State’s budget reduction, including the hiring freeze and
Tidal Wave 2; the steps taken to support campus morale after 9/11; the
status of the searches for the Vice Chancellors for Human Resources and for
Student Affairs, and the strategy for finding a new Executive Vice
Chancellor; an update of new campus-wide initiatives on genetics,
information technology, and UCLA in LA; and the new ‘comprehensive review’
for undergraduate admissions.

In order to maximize our time with the Chancellor, we are asking attendees
to submit questions in advance to the Staff Assembly website at
http://www.chr.ucla.edu/assembly . Please note that if time permits,
Chancellor Carnesale will answer additional questions from a microphone
available to the audience.

We ask that you use the website to rsvp, whether or not you are submitting a
question.
