Eugene, might I ask you to post this once more, since the deadline is
coming up? If you can, thanks so much.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Journal of Law and Religion Anniversary Celebration Deadline, December
15, 2008

The JOURNAL of LAW and RELIGION has issued a CALL FOR PAPERS in
celebration of its 25TH ANNIVERSARY of PUBLICATION

In 2007-2008, the Journal of Law and Religion will celebrate the 25th
Anniversary of its first publication. For its Anniversary, the Journal
has issued a call for papers on law and religion to be presented at the
Anniversary Symposium on October 23-25, 2008.

Symposium papers may be on any topic relating to the discipline of law
and religion. They may explore the history of particular ideas or the
work of prominent scholars in law and religion, the jurisprudential or
theological implications of political or social movements that implicate
law and religion, important issues or themes in religious legal
traditions, the past or future of the discipline of law and religion and
how its wisdom may be brought to bear on the pressing issues facing our
world civilization, or other topics.

Although this is not an exclusive list, among the continuing themes the
Journal has explored in the past are religion and the state, religious
human rights, the vocation of the lawyer, restorative justice,
historical and contemporary interpretations of religious law in the
world's faith traditions, natural law, religion and public life, law
governing religious professionals and institutions.
Interdisciplinary work is strongly encouraged.

Authors whose papers are selected will be invited to present those
papers at the 25th anniversary symposium and their papers will be
published in the fall, 2009, issue of the Journal of Law and Religion.

Criteria for Abstracts:

1.	Abstracts should be submitted by December 7, 2007 to Linda
Berglin, Journal of Law and Religion, Hamline University School of Law,
1536 Hewitt Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55104, lberglin at hamline.edu or by fax
651-523-2236. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts by
email to facilitate transmission to selection committee members.

2.	Authors whose papers are selected will be notified by January
15, 2008.

3.	Abstracts should be no longer than one page, and should
summarize the topic, issue and thesis that the author plans to explore
in his or her paper sufficiently that the selection committee can
understand the basic argument of the paper.

4.	A selection committee composed of staff and Editorial Board
members of the Journal of Law and Religion will judge abstracts.
Paper topics and abstracts will be kept confidential by the selection
committee unless and until they are selected for the Symposium, and
authors of papers not selected may be invited to submit their work to
the Journal for publication in a subsequent issue of the Journal,
through the regular review process.

5.	Selected authors' institutions will be responsible for
travel and housing costs, although some scholarship money may be
available for authors who are unable to bear the costs of travel.

6.	Authors from outside the U.S. who would have difficulty
traveling to the Symposium are invited to contact the Journal to obtain
information about presenting their papers from their home countries
through a prerecorded lecture (DVD).

7.	Authors whose papers are selected should be prepared to give a
15-20 minute version of their papers at the Symposium. Final papers
should approximate 35 double-spaced pages or less in length except as
negotiated with the editors.

8.	Selected authors will be expected to submit final drafts of
their papers for publication by December 15, 2008. All papers must
conform to Journal publication standards, see
http://law.hamline.edu/jlr/submitting-manuscripts.html for further
details.
