As this discussion winds down... so verrry slowllly.... (but I'm not complaining!),
permit me to say thank you for an informative, educational, entertaining, insightful (perhaps inciteful), eye-opening experience. It may have been one of the longer threads, but this is what the list is all about, it seems to me. Where else could those less experienced in these legal issues listen to a discussion among the heavyweights and not-so-heavyweights in the field, absent some coincidental and highly unlikely gathering in one geographical location that lasted for the many hours it would have been in real time.
I learned some law, I observed some adroit arguing, I threw in my 1.84 cents worth of opinions, and I know that when I read the opinion and the reports thereon (and the messages posted to that new thread in response to the opinion), it will make more sense than it would have otherwise made.
Think of how much law students would be willing to pay to lurk and listen to their teachers debating these points. This experience would be far more enlivening than many traditional law school courses.
Appreciation to Eugene who reads all these posts before they get listed. Too bad there's no way for him to sell tickets to the show to law students...... <g> And I guess it's illegal to run a "predict the vote and name the Justices" $1 per prediction pool? <g> <---NOT intended to begin a new thread!!
