Statesville Mayor responds to Hecate Protest

In an opinion column in the Charlotte Observer, this
morning, Statesville Mayor John Marshall defended the
inclusion of Ben Long's work, which includes many
different "crossroads" images.  Apparently, the work
is being paid for with private donations, but is
admittedly on a government building.

Here is a quote from the mayor describing the art that
I found particularly interesting:

"And standing high above the maiden on the signpost is
the word 'God' written in four ancient languages.  For
me, that means that it is God most high who is present
in every decision I make in my life."
