Lemon and anti-Catholicism

What is the evidence that "Douglas's law clerk saw it [Lemon] as a
fight between Catholics and Catholic-haters"?

This is a bit surprising. It is much easier to understand Lemon on
the assumption that the Justices saw it as a conflict between
Catholics and neutrals, with perhaps a side-glance at segregation
academies.
