1. I understand there is a very impressive statute of Moses in Boston's
courts building.
2. A group of Texas atheists recently erected a monument to a group of German
settlers who colonized the Hill Country. These "Freethinkers" are listed in
all the state history books, but the county commission decided that having a
monument to these settlers smacked too much of formal disestablishment of
religion. The monument, a huge stone, has been removed. It may yet be
litigated.
