While in Eurpoe recently, I read a newspaper article (Herald Tribune Jan 6
or 7) about the way German churches get their money and problems with that
method.
If you are registered with the government as a Luthern, Roman Catholic,
Jew, or (possibly) some other religious organizations, you pay a 9% surtax
on your taxes. The surtax goes to the religious organization.
The problem is that people are not registering when they start paying taxes
or are revoking their registration. Revenues have decreased substantially.
