Rescuing Worshippers

I have represented Operation Rescue and its members and leadership since 1988.
Over the course of that time I have seen many strange and wonderful things.
One of the best, relevant to this discussion, came in an Atlanta courtroom
where a judge had just convicted an elderly female rescuer; his sentence was
"time served" and probation for a year, unsupervised, with the condition that
she not come within 500 feet of an abortion business in the Atlanta Metroplex
during that year. The woman said, well, I can only obey that order if I
disobey God. The judge queried, "Do you talk with God?" "Yes," came the
sincere reply. "And God tells you to block the doors of clinics?" the judge
inquired. "Yes, he does," she confirmed. "Well, who I am to tell you not to
do what God has told you that you must?" the judge reasoned. With that he
amended his ruling to strike the probationary period.
