Music as speech

At the time my wife got married (1972) Episcopal Churches in Southern
California (and maybe other places) did not eding march because it was
secular music. However, the Hymnal 1940 and the current hymnal contains a
hymn that uses the tune 'Austria' (better known as Deutchland, Deutschland,
Uber Alles) and another that I have been told uses the tune for the Czarist
Russian National Anthem.

The tune we use for the U.S. National Anthem was prviously used for a
drinking song "Anachreon in Heaven with Bacchus Sweet Wine"

Aside: The theme tunes for the Lone Ranger, Sargent Preston, the Green
Hornet and others were chosen becaue they were in the public domain.
