Drake Law School is one of the 25 oldest law schools in the
country. A charter member of the Association of American
Law Schools, Drake Law School traces its history to 1865. The
Law School is in the center of the Drake University campus,
a 120-acre community within 10 minutes of downtown Des
Moines, Iowa, and the state capital complex. Drake is a
technology-intensive institution and the largest private
university in Iowa with enrollments of 3,800 full-time, and
2,500 part-time, students. The University has strong ties to
business, education, health care, governmental institutions and
the arts in Iowa and the midwest. Des Moines is the hub of the
state's legal community, as well as the state capital. The
metropolitan community of one-half million offers superb
public and private schools, convenient air transportation
services, varied and affordable housing opportunities, and a
cosmopolitan cultural environment. Drake Law School has
410 students and 23 full-time faculty members. Law School
students are a diverse group, representing forty-two states,
three other countries, and nearly 200 undergraduate institutions.

Drake Law School's facilities are among the best in the country.
Dedicated in 1993, the Dwight D. Opperman Hall and Law
Library has won several architectural and design awards and has
received international recognition. The state-of-the-art Neal and
Bea Smith Law Center, expanded in 1994, houses extensive clinical
programs and also serves as the national training center for public
service attorneys. In addition, Drake Law School is home to one
of only four Constitutional Law Resource Centers created by
Congress and its Agricultural Law Center is one of the few
programs in the country addressing American and international
agricultural law and policy.
