First Things reports that Yale Law School has refused the request of the
Christian Legal Society to interview on campus. The refusal initially was
due to CLS admission that they do consider religion in hiring. Subsequently
the CLS director also advised the Yale administration that CLS would
consider the sexual conduct of applicants as relevant in making hiring
decisions.
Fr. Neuhaus reports that Harvard Law School initially took a similar
position, but Professors Glendon and Dershowitz persuaded the school that
the refusal was inconsistent with numerous laws that include religious
exemptions. Harvard permits CLS to interview.
