A couple of years ago I drafted a petition for a writ of certiorari for John
Peloza regarding this question. His case arose from his decision not to
teach evolution or creation, despite the mandate of the California Science
Standards. He found the mandated evolution instruction to be a
philosophical/theological discussion more appropriate to a philosophy of
science class than to a biology course.
