For a Fourth of July service, a guest preacher at my local church
argued that our current understanding of church/state issues is far
outside the Founders intent. To substantiate this argument, he
refered to a 1811 US Supreme Court case in which (according to this
preacher) a public school student was disciplined with jail time for
making utterances disrespectful of Christ. The Court argued that
this is a Christian nation, and so attaching Christ was attacking the
nation and that the student could be disciplined under what amounts
to treason.

I couldn't find any such case. Does the fact senario ring a bell for
any one?
