Regarding the request for publications on persecution of Catholics, these are
two books we've got in our library that might be of help:

1) _Anti-Catholicism in the 1980s_ by Kevin G. Long. 1988 Catholic League for
Religious and Civil Rights. Milwaukee Wisc.
Sometimes the Catholic League can be a little too thin skinned (in my opinion)
but this is a pretty good summary of rude and insensitive behavior with an
anti-Catholic twist.

2) _The Catholic Church in World Politics_ by Eric O. Hanson. 1987 Princeton
University Press. Princeton, NJ.
Chapter 5 gives a pretty good historical summary Catholic activities in
American politics with special attention given to the work the Church has done
to combat anti-Catholicism.
