book: separation of church and state

Dear Jim,
That is part of the point that I make in my book (Please Don't Wish Me a
Merry Christmas: A Critical History of the Separation of Church and State).
On the one hand, the dominant story of the separation of church and state
suggests that everybody enjoys equal religious liberty. On the other hand,
members of religious outgroups are subject to a near daily barrage of
Christian symbols, statements, etc. Moreover, this type of (proselytizing
or quasi-proselytizing) activity is protected in part by the separation of
church and state.
Sincerely,
Stephen M. Feldman
