Of course, the discussion of Biblical sources for fear of witches
is fascinating, but a solid analysis of what happened, e.g in
Salem, would look more at gender issues (majority of accused and
executed were women), land issues which were particularly iportant
in Salem, role of police in deciding whom to take in and whom to
excuse (bribery was an important consideration), the interim nature
of the government of Mass at the time.
