In our local AWANA program (Approved Workment Are Not Ashamed), my youngest
daughter is learning James 2:10, which says, "if a man keep the whole law, yet
stumble in one point, he is guilty of all." From this she has come to
understand that in order to be righteous under her own power she cannot ignore
jot or tittle, for each violation of the smallest principle of the law is a
violation of its entirety. The consequences are not all always the same.
Moses struck the rock once too often and didn't enter the promised land.
David caused the death of Uriah but did not get thrown out of the promised
land by God. Each offense separates from God.
