I rather suspect most of the liberals on this list are not very fond
of property taxes and would prefer a far more progressive system of
taxation than at present.

This brings me to a second point. Would a certain form of modified
socialism unite all members of this list. How about the following.
Upon proof of pregnancy, all women (and their spouses, lovers--we
need to work out the precise language) are entitled to $10,000
annually until the child graduates college (we need to work out rules
for stopping payment). (Variation, persons are entitled to ten
percent of the difference between their income and $100,000 per
child). Financing will have to worked out (I favor doubling the
capital gains tax, after all unearned income should not be treated as
earned income). Still, isn't my proposal far more freedom oriented
than the Duncan proposal, which merely gives parents money for making
a particular choice--i.e. going to a private school. Under mine,
your Nebraska family would be free to go to private school--but they
could also go to Europe every year if they thought that would provide
their child with a better education. They could purchase piano
lessons. But they would decide what the best use of the money is.
Not Duncan.

P.S. I'll bet this proposal with save lots of fetal lives. Paulsen
are you ready to join me or do you think letting Donald Trump keep
his billions is far more important than ensuring women have the
resources necessary to choose life.
