Dear Network Colleagues:
The National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region,
will underwrite the registration cost for up to ten (10) regional sites
for the broadcast of MLA's Educational Webcast:
Now's the Time: Understanding the Electronic Health Record Maze and
Health Sciences Librarians' Roles
Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m., Pacific Time /
8:00a.m-10:00a.m., Hawaii-Aleutian Time
The goal of this program is to clarify the terminology surrounding the
emerging electronic health information environment and to illustrate how
and why health sciences librarians can and should become engaged with
the efforts to achieve the national 2014 goal of instituting an
electronic health record for each person in the United States.
* To remove the ambiguity and confusion revolving around the
electronic health environment. Technology, management, and the exchange
of health information will be discussed.
* To illustrate the emerging electronic health information
environment by profiling working electronic medical records (EMRs),
electronic health records (EHRs), and personal health records (PHRs).
* To highlight the recent involvement health sciences librarians
have had with EMRs, EHRs, and PHRs.
Please notify our office of your intent to apply for funding by March
Special consideration for funding will be given to those sites that
anticipate a minimum of ten (10) participants.
Once your request for funding has been approved, you will need to
register by filling out the PDF application, fax it over to PSR, and
serve as local site coordinator. You may charge participants for
logistical arrangements, such as refreshments and parking, but not for
NN/LM PSR will publicize a list of regional viewing sites in upcoming
weeks, and will circulate the DVD following the webcast. If you are
unable to attend or sign up for the webcast, you can request a loan from
our lending website once the DVD is available:
