[PSR-News] Is your library using IE6?

Colleagues,

NLM is requesting that all DOCLINE libraries that are still using IE6 upgrade their browsers to either IE7 or IE8 or use Firefox 3.6.x. The message below gives further details.

Please let me know if you have questions or if this poses a problem for your institution.

Since NLM announced the end of support for Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) with DOCLINE in July 2009, we have seen a dramatic decrease in the use of IE6. Thanks to the 600+ libraries that successfully upgraded their browsers.  With the upcoming release of DOCLINE 4.5 on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, we strongly encourage that the remaining Internet Explorer 6 users update their browsers to Internet Explorer 8 or Internet Explorer 7, or to install Firefox 3.6.x.

We have heard that some library's institutions are using other software applications that still require Internet Explorer 6.  We understand the difficult position this poses for our libraries. We hope that in working with your local IT departments, you can negotiate a browser upgrade on one or more PCs in the library for DOCLINE use; or to install Firefox 3.6.x as an alternative to an Internet Explorer upgrade at this time.

Users upgrading their browsers or using a new PC should modify their browser settings for use with DOCLINE.  See
