Subject: Announcing DOCLINE 2.6
All,
The National Library of Medicine announces the release of DOCLINE 2.6.
This latest version of DOCLINE provides an updated version of our ISO
ILL protocol compliant software. DOCLINE 2.6 will be released on
Tuesday, November 1, 2005. DOCLINE will be unavailable for a brief time
while we promote this new version. Release Notes can be viewed at
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/docline/docline_rel_info_v2_6.html
The following vendors have successfully tested with DOCLINE and are
approved for exchanging ISO ILL requests with DOCLINE beginning with
version 2.6.
Atlas Systems (ILLiad)
Fretwell-Downing (VDX)
Relais International (Relais)
RLG (ILL Manager)
Below are the URLs to the DOCLINE ISO Protocol FAQs describing the
issues to consider when deciding to become an ISO ILL library and the
NLM procedure for requesting conversion to ISO ILL. It is essential
that you understand the functionality available with this new model when
deciding to convert to ISO ILL.

How to request to use ISO ILL:
Libraries must submit a request to NLM to use the Protocol by filling
out the "Request a DOCLINE Enhancement" Contact DOCLINE form. Users
should select "ISO ILL Protocol" as the subject and enter their
institution's ISO IP address and/or email transport and ISO symbol in
the Notes field. Contact your ILL management system vendor and local IT
support to gather this information. NLM will register the library and
add their IP address to our firewall settings. Registration can take up
to one week. Once the registration process is complete, NLM will
exchange test messages with the library via a test library in the
DOCLINE production system. Libraries requesting conversion to ISO ILL
will be processed one by one in the order the requests are received.
Please do not hesitate to contact NLM if you have any questions about
DOCLINE functionality. Please contact your ILL management system vendor
directly with any questions about how your ILL management system will
function with DOCLINE requests.
