Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a child? Are you
looking for a work-study job? If you do not have work-study, are you
interested in a chance to volunteer? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, please read on...

UCLA BruinCorps is an exciting program for UCLA students interested in
making a profound impact in the life of a child. BruinCorps provides both
employment and volunteer opportunities for UCLA students to serve in under
resourced areas in Los Angeles. Tutors commit to a year (three
quarters) of one-on-one or small group tutoring and mentoring with
youth struggling with academics in either the: * Early
Childhood Education Program: ages 3-5, literacy tutoring *
America Reads Program: grades K-5, literacy tutoring * America
Counts Program: grades 6-8, math tutoring * After School Program:
grades K-12, homework tutoring

Work-study students are paid hourly and tutor 10-15 hours per week. In
addition to the hourly work-study salary, tutors may qualify for an
additional $1000- $1250 educational stipend that can be applied towards
their tuition or the repayment of loans. If you do not have work-study and
just want to volunteer (non-paid), we offer long-term (3 quarter
commitment) and short-term (2 quarter commitment) volunteer opportunities!
Quality training is provided and support is offered for everyone throughout
the year. Carpooling to the sites can be arranged.
We will take applications all summer long. However, our positions tend to
fill up quickly and our program begins in the Fall so call or stop
by soon to apply! To pick up an application come to the BruinCorps
office in the Student Activities Center, Suite B28. For more
information call us at (310) 794-4066 or email Markisha at
	mkey at saonet.ucla.edu .
