SUBJECT: Taking the MCAT in August?
TEXT: We are looking for participants for a longitudinal study on the well
being of medical school applicants, which is being conducted, primarily
online, through the Psychology Department at UCLA. We hope this research
will help us understand effective strategies that medical school
applicants--like you-- employ to adjust during this stressful and exciting
time. As one part of the study we will give you a specific technique to
practice, to test its effectiveness in the adjustment process. We hope that
knowledge gained from this study will help us design interventions for use
with future medical school applicants.
You will be compensated $40 for your participation in the study, with the
chance to win an additional $300 in cash lottery prizes.
The majority of the study will be conducted online, and we anticipate no
more than 3 hours and 40 minutes of your time will be spent on the study
throughout the course of the study period:
* Intake information (now): 20 minute online questionnaire, 5-30
minute telephone interview with experimenter, 20-minute visit to our lab in
Franz Hall at UCLA. (45-70 minutes total)
* August: 5-10 minutes nightly for 12 days before the MCAT, 15 minute
follow-up two days after the MCAT.
* 3 months post-MCAT: 10-30 minute telephone interview with our
experimenter
Enrollment of participants for the April MCAT was successful and we are now
looking for participants who plan to take the AUGUST MCAT and apply to med
school this year for Wave 2. Enrollment is open now!
