          This 4-unit course is intended to help students with their
academic and professional writing. The class provides students opportunities
to analyze writing in their fields and presents strategies for effective
professional writing. Writing assignments will be individualized, allowing
students to work on their own writing projects. Assignments will cover
several typical academic writing tasks including literature reviews,
critical reviews, proposal writing and report writing. Instruction will also
include practice with the style and grammar of academic writing. Students
will engage in extensive writing and revising of papers in order to hone
their writing skills and practice strategies for achieving a clear and
coherent style. This course is open to both graduate and undergraduate
students.
