* Advocating and empowering families by helping them connect with
essential resources in their community
* Learning about the various health and social issues faced by low
socioeconomic status (SES) or immigrant families living in urban Los
Angeles 
* Becoming knowledgeable about specific health and social resources such
as health insurance, regional centers, legal aid services and more 
* Gaining practical hands-on experience, learning about community
medicine that otherwise would not be received in the classroom?
