[Oradlist] Cone beam CT services in your Faculty College or School

Thank you to all of you who responded to me both publicly in the Oradlist forum and privately; I received 27 replies in total.  Of these, 16 of you charge the same fees for both “in house” faculty patients and “outside patients”.  Six of you charge a differential fee for “in house” vs. “outside” patients.  One institution does cone beam imaging for free, without any charge to the patient.  Four institutions will waive the cone beam imaging fee if the other practitioners involved in the care of a patient waives their fees.

At the end of the day, I feel and have always felt that there is a true value to our service.  Just because we don’t cut into, fill, or scrape should not make our services of any lesser value, perceived or otherwise.  And, it’s not like these other folks wouldn’t be charging a fee for their surgical or orthodontic services, now, would they?

When patients in your Faculty, College or School of Dentistry require a cone beam CT examination, do these patients receive this service for a market fee, a reduced school fee, or do they receive the service for free.  The reason I am asking is that recently, I am being asked to provide this service to our Faculty’s patient population for free.
