[Oradlist] Another Country accepts "OMR/DMFR" as a specialty

The original announcement (made by me) was in response directly to information provided from Turkey from a reliable source in the field, and specified that there was news from Turkey that a specialty "appeared" to be approved. The Turkish Ministry of Education has already accepted the specialty according to subsequent clarifications and it is in process now at the Ministry of Health. This is good news and certainly far ahead of most countries in Europe. When the second phase is approved my guess id that Turkey will lead Europe in the total number of recognized specialists. They are indeed to be congratulated on this achievement with the Ministry of Education. Most European countries have 20 or less total specialists per country. Real achievement for the discipline will come when we can attract more folk to become practitioners of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologists. Recognition is a small, but important beginning. If, when we do have it, we see no growth in our numbers, then it is rather moot. AGF

Dear Keiji,

I think your address was most appropriate!
It was just our enthusiastic American friends who had exaggerated the news a bit. Let us hope they will become a specialty in Turkey soon. It sure looks promising!

All my best wishes

Lennart
