Hello all. I appreciate the interest and information being provided. Just for historical perspective (I mean in 1960), retake films in the film mount were punched with a hole so that it was clear when the mount was sitting on a viewbox, that a retake was required. I remember that clearly because my first FMX had 7 holes for all to see.

Dear all,
In Emago (www.emago.info) the ability to delete images depends on the authorization settings of the user. In our school nobody can delete images, except faculty of the radiology department. This is a very strict setting. Depending on local policies, more people can be given the "power" to delete images. Students do not have these rights. Once they have made an exposure, there is an image in the patient image base.
Furthermore, images that are correct (diagnostically usable) will be mounted in the patient mount. By doing this, the file name in the image list turns blue. Otherwise the name is green. This makes it easy to distinguish between images of non diagnostic value and images that are correct.
This solves your problem, because you can be sure that no x-rays can be removed secretly; and you can count easily the "green" file names.
I hope this information is helpful for you.
Best regards,
Paul van der Stelt

This is a concern of ours as well. We use MiPACS and axiUm. axiUm helps us keep track of the number of actual exposures (not necessarily the same as the number of final images) in axiUm. Replaced images can be left out of the template, but can be kept with the patient's images in a "tray" at the bottom of the screen. However, MOST of the time, when an image is retaken because of poor quality, the original is completely deleted from MiPACS. I have been told that a re-take/deletion module is planned for an upcoming release in MiPACS. This will be available as a configurable option for costumers that wish to track image deletions.

Subject: [Oradlist] Tracking of retakes of digital images
Dear All
I read the email from Steve Matteson regarding retakes of digital images with interest. I am looking for a way to track and survey all retakes of digital images in my practice. Can anyone suggest a way I could do this? Dr Juan Yepes mentioned software called MiPACS but when I searched the web for MiPACS I could not find information on how this software can help me to tract and report on digital image retakes. Could Dr Yepes or anyone else suggest a way to do this?
If anyone wants to communicate with me directly please email me at pmapweb at aol.com
Thanking you all in anticipation.
