Dear Joanne:
The radiopacity of the entity on the panoramic image seems indicative of
bone. However, on the PA view, the degree of radiopacity may be more
consistent with fluid or soft tissue. Therefore, I would not discount
the possibility of a mucous retention pseudocyst. Provided the patient
is asymptomatic and the area free of clinical abnormality, I would
suggest a repeat panoramic image in one year.
