We must remember that the uncertainty in effective dose
calculations is great. There is no substantiation for debate
regarding the second or third significant digit.

hi all !
can some one please explain what is the break down for a FMX using rectangular collimation and E-speed film
how much is the effective dosage for the 15 periapicals? and how much for the 4 interproximals?

Hi all!
correct me if I am wrong but according to the text book White and Pharoah's 5th edition,
a full mouth series consisting of 19 films is 150 micro sieverts.
the break down is 15 periapicals =111micro.sv
4 bitewings(interproximal)=38 micro sieverts
both of them add up to 149micro sieverts.

The paper came out in General Dentistry last March (you can find it on Pubmed), but the press just picked up on it. It may be an interesting path of research for other cancers as well.
