[Oradlist] Keeping OMR before the dental profession

So you can add to that myself and Dale Miles... and probably Tom
Schiff... so that makes 6. Not as bad as I thought. However, I do
suspect that there are no more than 20-30 maxillofacial radiologists who
are members of ADA. Perhaps that is an incorrect guess? Best wishes,
Allan

Allan
Interesting thought.
This year there actually will be 3 on the podium, Sharon Brooks, John
Ludlow and moi.
I agree with your basic premise, that we have met the enemy and it is
us
("we" to be grammatically correct).
We fought hard for specialty recognition, and then many seemed to go
back to the old ways.
And, yes, I know this on the whole ORADlist, not just Allan and I
talking.

Axel: Agreed; however, there are steps to be taken by Maxillofacial
Radiologists to have the specialty - and their own radiology
credentials
- recognized in each individual state... and if we want to be a force
within the ADA then perhaps more of our members should to pay the
dues
for membership of that organization. I do not bump into so very many
AAOMR members at ADA Annual Session, nor do I see so very many on the
podium at that event. Perhaps it is time to reconsider re-associating
the AAOMR Annual Congress with the ADA Annual Session if we want to be
around to be noticed and to lobby the cause? Allan G. Farman

The Executive Council of the AAOMR is aware of the problems that Axel
and Allan have mentioned. We have sent letters to Ms. Deborah Gorski
of
the ADA Membership Services Department, asking how to ensure that our
100+ OMR Diplomates are listed as specialists in the ADA's records,
and
to two of the free journals that don't list OMR as a specialty on
their
subscription cards, with requests to add it on. So far, no responses
have been received but we will keep on top of this issue. In order
for
our specialty to survive we must first make the profession aware it
exists. And as Ernie says, it won't happen if we don't do it
ourselves.
