The fact that most throwaway journals do not list OMR was my point. Unless
we get after them they will not change. If we do, especially if many of us
do, they might. Some are doing so. We, as a group, have got to learn that no
one will come to you just because you exist. We need to return to the
proactivism that got the specialty recognition.

Have you tried to get listed in the yellow pages as a specialty if
Maxillofacial or Dental Radiology? Most all of the throw away journals do
not list radiology. rlr

Hello

I just received my copy of inside Dentistry and noted that on the product
information card, Question 2, they only list six of the recognized (in the
USA) specialty areas of practice, as well as General Practice and Lab
Technology. I have sent them an e-mail asking why the other specialties are
not listed? As an oral and maxillofacial radiologist, I wonder why, for
example Oral Pathology is listed, but not Oral Radiology. I have noticed
this on several similar "journals" and have pursued this. Some of the
companies are totally unaware of the specialties, or unaware that they do
not have them listed. It may be a minor point, but whenever a practitioner
fills out such a card it would provide a reinforcement, positive (if listed)
or negative (if not listed) about OMR. I would request that all of us take
the time to e-mail or phone these companies and ask them to add OMR to that
list. In some we are the only specialty not listed. In today's case neither
is OMS and DPH. Every little bit helps so please contact these publishers.
If they hear from enough people they may actually start to review these
cards on their own.
