One of our part-time endodontic faculty members asked me if it would
be feasible to do the following bench top experiment on a (n
extracted) tooth:

1.Take a (digital) radiograph of a tooth after it has been
instrumented and before filling it for the first time.

2. Take a (digital) radiograph of the same tooth after removing the
filling material and before filling it a second time,

3. Superimposing the images and/or subtracting them, will one be able
to "calculate" or assess apical transportation, ledging etc?

4 A secondary aim is to somehow quantify or assess the amount of
filling material left behind after removing the first filling
material and before filling it for the second time.

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
