You might wish to research NCRP REport # 145 -

provides some information on this.
Devices used in the USA require FDA Approval - but use is controlled by
individual Revised Statutes that are specific to each individual State.

Dear Oradlisters
In the UK there is a document called Guidance notes on the safe use of
x-ray equipment which gives recommendations on intra -oral and extra
oral equipment type. There are also European guidelines available
suggesting similar recommendations.
I would be grateful if anyone could give me details of other such
national/international guidelines for the US and other parts of the
world.
