Hi all,

Here is a link to an article by Dr.s Taeko and Alan Farman. He wrote a very good piece on various digital intra oral sensors. the link is: www.aadmrt.org

As one of the few systems, we have never tried Dexis here at Royal Dental
College, Aarhus, Denmark.
My objection against Thomas Shiff's advise is more based on:

1) The dexis sensor, was one of the first sensors, and to my best knowledge,
it has not had any major improvements since it was invented.

2) on the Dexis homepage (http://www.dexray.com/) you can chose to "Review
Recent Articles".
It seems to me, that none of the recent articles are serious research on the
Dexis system.
If you try to search anywhere for research in digital radiography, you will
find very few (if any) publications mentioning this system

3) Dexis only produces sensors, so if you want to expand to extraoral You
can add an Orex-Scanner to your system.
The Orex scanner has former been sold under the name DigiDent. In those days
we tested it, and found it of very low quality.
Later Planmeca sold the scanner as their own brand, They dropped selling it.

So if you, at a university clinic, when going digital chose Dexis, i think
that you make a big mistake.

Regards
Erik Gotfredsen

Dr. Schiff,
We are looking to go digital here at the University of Mississippi
School of Dentistry and will have to make some decisions soon on digital
systems. What kind of systems are you using? what kind of software? Do
you have an electronic record? If you could re-buy or reselect systems,
which one or ones would you choose?
Any information you can provide would be more appreciated.
Thanks,
Frances Gordy
