Dear Dr. Homolka, I can anticipate some data out from the abstract I sent to
13 th International Congress of DMFR. Congress : E and risks are 2-3.5 times
lower using NewTom than using spiral CT with a relative low intensity (100
mA) depending on different hypoteses concerning the remainders. In the
hypotesis strictly according to ICRP 60 background effective radiation time
(BERT) is 18 (maxilla) and 22 (mandibula) days with  spiral CT and 11 days
(both for maxilla and mandibula) with NewTom.
In my experience (thousands cases) axial images are of less quality than
those of high dose- high resolution conventional CT, whereas reformatted
images can compete with those generate by conventional  CT . Best regards
