We also are using the F speed Ektavision film with Eastman Kodak Readymatic
II chemicals and have had no major problems (as long as films are processed
at the regular cycle time for automatic processors--about 5 minutes). If
the "endo speed" setting were chosen, then the films naturallly will not be
adequately fixed.
FYI: At the University of Maryland, we use AT 2000 film processors @ 83 deg.
F., they are cleaned every 4 weeks. GBX-2 safelight filters are used in our
darkrooms. We generally have archival results, with either the E-plus or F
speed "Ektavision" films.... with about 100 students per class, we naturally
have some glitches, but generally the problem lies with level of experience.
(Now that I have written this memo, something will probably go wrong with
our processors tomorrow!)
Best wishes
Jon Park

Subject: Fwd: Questions
I received the message below from one of my dental students whose
father is a dentist and had some problems with F speed film. I told
him that we had had similar problems when Ektaspeed-Plus was
introduced because of an incompatibility between the processing
chemicals we were using at the time and the film. As soon as we
switched chemicals, the problem went away. We are using Kodak
Ready-matic solutions with F-speed film and having no difficulties. I
suggested that he try the Kodak solutions.
Does anyone have any other ideas about this?
