archiving digital images

Hi All,

We are currently in the process of digitizing film-based cases in our
teaching film library and I would be interested to know how other
people who have done this are archiving their images. We have a
PACS program that we use for our CT cases which also allows us to
import plain film images but the program doesn't allow us to create
thumbnails of the images, which is a nice feature if you are dealing
with cases which include only plain films . We would like to use a
program that allows us to view thumbnails and search for a case by
patient name, date, disease, etc., ie. one where a search engine /
database is built in to the program.

I currently store images in folders and view them in Photoshop,
using a separate database program to find where I've stored specific
cases but this is cumbersome.

What software are you using for archiving and how is it working
for you? Thanks for any advice ORADLISTERS can pass along.

Grace
