AAOMR Annual Session

Registration materials have been mailed to all AAOMR members for the Annual Session to be held in Chicago from December 1-5. I will be happy to mail materials to non-members who request them.

There is a problem. Because of the RSNA city-wide room block, the AAOMR was able to secure only 20 rooms for the Wednesday night. We have a room block of 80 rooms for the remainder of the meeting.

The Knickerbocker has told me that all 20 of the rooms for Wednesday night have been accounted for. the hotel has a supply of about 20 roll-away beds that can be used at a nominal cost.

I am asking that anyone who has a confirmed reservation and who would be willing to share a room to place an invitation on oradlist so that those who wish to arrive on the Wednesday night might contact them. Some of you may be assigned rooms with two beds, others rooms with only one bed. If this is indicated on your confirmation letter, please include the information on your invitation. The more of us who can share rooms with two beds, the fewer roll-away beds will be tied up, making them available to those with only one bed in the room.

Unfortunately, two years ago when we were negotiating the contract, there was no way to estimate how many would be arriving this year on the Wednesday. Even if there were, there would have been no additional rooms that the hotel could release because of the RSNA block.

Those of you who are members of the RSNA may be able to get rooms through that organization, but I know their room rate is significantly higher than ours. There is a similar block on most hotel rooms in Chicago, since the RSNA is the largest medical meeting in the country.

If any one is aware of rooms available elsewhere, please share that information.
