Teaching on the web

I enjoyed visiting Stu's web site for his radiographic anatomy course. I am
hoping to work on something similar this summer for teaching interpretation
of dental caries and periodontal disease. I will let people know when there
is something ready to view.

For those of you who have similar programs or are working on them, do you
allow unlimited access or is access by password only? Do you track which of
your students actually use the site? If it is not a required part of the
course, have you tried comparing those who do use it with those who don't?
Do you keep track of which items the users have most trouble with? These
are things that I am trying to sort out as I design my project (assuming
that I get an institutional computing grant that will allow me to hire a
programming guru).
