We don't use Dentx-9000 processors at Eastman Dental Center, but I do have
some experience with them at other centers in the country. We have not
experienced any major technical problems, however, I do see, quite frequently,
radiolucent bands on the films. Their occurence is consistent, about 6-7 mm
from the leading edge of the film, some are more apparant than others. It
occured to me when I started pointing them out that it hadn't caught people's
attention before. Basically, they are so called wet pressure marks, or roller
marks, caused by the configuration of the rollers and the material they are
made from. The Dentx machines seem to show this more often than other
processors. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done, other than
selecting the best set of rollers if you have a choice.
