Did I miss something?

Ken,
I think we must have missed something too. We do provide tomograms for
Dr Cooper but no MRI. I am not sure where that came from unless it was
from a paper we submitted on radiographic/surgical templates for implant
imaging to the Journal of Prosthodontics. In that paper we discussed MRI
as a theoretical possibility but not practical or advisable .
I will add the disclaimer that we had very little input to the article in
the Compendium of Continuing Education. Dr Cooper is a very capable
clinician and has a broad understanding of implant related issues. I do not
think it was his intent to treat MRI has a legitimate alternative to CT or
conventional tomography at this time. I know that we certainly do not use
MRI here at UNC for implant patients. Anyone out there using MRI for
implant patients? It would be interesting to find out. A few years ago
a group of radiologists in NC were offering MRI imaging for patients but
the demand was too low. This was not surprising considering the costs and
the fact that the town has population of 20-25,000.
