Jacques Pothier is Professor of American Literature at the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin en Yvelines, France. He specializes in the literature of the South of the United States, and is a pioneer in the comparative study of North and South American literature. He is author of numerous books and articles including William Faulkner: essayer de tout dire. Paris: Belin, Jan. 2003; and Les nouvelles de Flannery O'Connor. Editions de l'Université de Versailles St Quentin/Editions du Temps, 2004. His edited volumes include Regards Croisés sur New York, edited with John Dean. Guyancourt, France: Editions de l'Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, 2003; and Le Crime oranisé, de la prohibition à la guerre froide, edited with John Dean. Nantes, France: Editions du Temps, 2002. He is an editor of the William Faulkner edition of La Pléiade; and he has also translated several novels by Faulkner into French. Professor Pothier is vice-president of the French Association of American Studies.
