Ernest Laclau  is Professor of Political Theory at the University of
Essex and Distinguished Professor for Humanities and Rhetorical Studies
at Northwestern University.  He is the author of On Populist Reason,
Emancipation(s), New Reflections on the Revolution of our Time,  and
Politics and Ideology in Marxist Theory;  co-author, with Chantal
Mouffe, of Hegemony and Socialist Strategy and, with Judith Butler and
Slavoj Zizek, of Contingency, Hegemony, Universality; and editor of The
Making of Political Identities. 

 

 

Sponsored by the Mellon Postdoctoral Program on 'Cultures in
Transnational Perspective,' Comparative Literature, English, French and
Francophone Studies and the Center for the Study of Global France, and
the Political Theory Workshop.
