Virginia will discuss the academy's resistance to the digital using her
own dissertation as a limit case. She will argue that the most
problematic features of the digital are: its ease of publishing; its
reliance on non-alphabetic modes of expression; and its complication of
copyright conventions. We hope the participants could discuss the role
of digital scholarship in term of its valuation in higher education
(tenure and promotion and such).
