CALL FOR PAPERS: DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS:
JUNE 14, 2004
Graduate students are invited to present their research or
other work on LGBT or queer topics, on sexuality and
gender. Proposals are welcome from all interested
graduate students, including those who are now students
but who may have completed their graduate degrees by the
time of the conference. Presentations at the conference
will be limited to 20 minutes.
REGULAR PANELS: Please submit an abstract and a CV (each
two pages maximum) to one of the addresses given below.
Students whose proposals are accepted will be grouped into
panels, each of which will have a faculty
moderator/commentator.
OPEN WORKSHOPS provide an opportunity for advanced
graduate students to work more closely with distinguished
scholars in the field. All information below relates to
Open Workshops only.
Eligibility: Limited to students who have passed their
Ph.D. qualifying exams and are working on their doctoral
dissertations. Be sure to establish your eligibility when
you submit your abstract.
Applications: Submit an abstract and a CV (each two pages
maximum) to one of the addresses given below. Indicate
the workshop for which you are submitting the abstract.
Your application will be forwarded to the scholar
responsible for that workshop who will make the
selection. Please let us know whether you want to be
considered for a regular panel if your abstract is not
chosen for one of the workshops.
Process: If you are selected to participate in one of the
open workshops, you will be asked to send a first draft of
the paper to the workshop leader by September 1st. This
will allow time for the workshop leaders and presenters to
explore ways to strengthen the papers before they are
presented at the conference. The final papers will be
circulated to the other students participating in your
workshop before the conference.
Presentation: At the conference the workshop participants
will present their papers at an open session. The
workshop leader will offer a commentary on the papers and
the issues they raise in relation to the field as a
whole. The student participants will be invited to
comment on the other presentations, which they will have
read in advance.
