I would like to join others who have thanked Eugene for his excellent management of the list over the years. I hope we can find a worthy successor.

I'd like to thank Eugene for his effort, attention, scholarship, and
patience, while playing goalie, too.
There is another format available, called a Bulletin Board System (BBS)
that would cut down on all of the email traffic and reduce the
administrative burden while permitting all the posting you want directly
to the board. This would bypass your mailbox, allow you to self-define
any subject you want, on all the topics you want, arrangeable by general
or specific topic, searchable. You just go to the site to see what's
new, or you can arrange to be alerted to new posts, in which case your
email traffic returns to what you're used to.
You could also post images of what you're talking about, such as
crosses, Ten Commandment statues, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and
even an auto-da-fe or two, as object lessons, without the space
limitations of the current format.
There are any number of so-called 'scripts' available, including one I'm
familiar with administering, published and sold by Invision Power
Systems at: http://www.invisionpower.com/.
There's a modest cost for the service, like $10/month (that's paid by
the host, not the contributors, unless you can get them to share) which
is hosted not on the administrator's computer/server, but (I think) on
IPS, or on any ISP you choose.
If there's any interest, please let me know off-list and we can
discuss. I can provide an example.
