Cheap shots against Palin

Forgive me, but why would anyone care if her embarrassing performance was a result of surprise or not?  The world is unstable right now.  If she cannot succeed when Katie Couric supposedly surprises her, she is not going to be much good when al qaeda does.  I do not think history would give her a "surprise" defense when she failed under real pressure.
